For the amateur astronomer, it provides an observation planner, a sky calendar tool, and an FOV editor to calculate field of view of equipment and display them. Sign up for a new account in our community. I can tell you the image session setup, acquisition, file naming and organizing in APT is so simple and good that just that alone makes me wonder if I should switch at all.
You then simply adjust the RA/Dec settings until the selected star has moved to the tip of the arrow and alignment is achieved.
Included with KStars is Ekos astrophotography suite, a complete astrophotography solution that can control all INDI devices including numerous telescopes, CCDs, DSLRs, focusers, filters, and a lot more. It actually installs everything onto the Pi (or any SBC that's running Ubuntu) that you need.
It is based on a modular extensible framework to perform common astrophotography tasks.
My mount is running Kstars/Ekos on a RPi4 with Raspbian Buster. I use VNCViewer on my phone to control everything. Also all my captures go straight to to my PC. KStars/ Ekos Polar alignment. Both times I tried the ekos version the final alignment star went off the screen so I gave in and brought my laptop out for Sharpcap with my guide scope. Several functions may not work. So might prove very useful if you were guiding via OAG and dont have a separate guide scope. I run Kstars on the windows pc with everything connected to the RPi on the mount.
The INDILIB based KSTARS is pretty slick. Later suggestions were so much better I decided to delete my post. It just connects to the Pi via Indi Web Manager so my Windows pc is doing all the hard work. After you run KStars on your PC or on StellarMate (Either directly via HDMI or via VNC ), Ekos can be accessed from the Tools menu or via the Ekos on the main toolbar, or by a keyboard shortcut ( Ctrl + K ). The display includes up to 100 million stars, 13,000 deep-sky objects,all 8 planets, the Sun and Moon, and thousands of comets, asteroids, supernovae, and satellites. I would wait to compare anything using the RPi4 though because Stellarmate is in Beta still.
Again, that is based on my hardware and experience with each so far.

The problem is that I get very good polar alignment with just using my built in iOptron polar alignment scope, and to benefit of using the Ekos setup is that I could be inside in the cold weather. It has built in plate solving, autofocusing and guiding with dithering.
