have you had a look at execution plan? In short order, the SSRS report displayed the desired data.
Pinal Dave is a SQL Server Performance Tuning Expert and an independent consultant. For every expert, there is an equal and opposite expert. In any event, I eventually skipped down to the section entitled "5 - Examples of How to Fix Parameter-Sniffing Issues", and found the OPTIMIZE FOR query hint, which sounded like a reasonable one to try. It only takes ~ 5-7 seconds to run.I appreciate everyone's input. But, if I copy the parameterized query to a Query window in SSMS, and add DECLARE statements for the parameters (with appropriate value assignments), the query also returns results
